Walcott Targeted

England’s forward Theo Walcott, was attacked suddenly post the Tottenham Arsenal game by three, leaving the supporters shocked. Three men have been accused to have attacked the twenty four year old player are being still searched by Police. While the forward was being taken off the field on a stretcher post his knee injury he was badly pelted using coins on 4th of January at Emirates Stadium while the North London Derby was going on. Besides Walcott, the staffs from St John Ambulance and the stewards were also badly hit while carrying the former.

In retaliation to the misbehavior Walcott was seen to gesture a 2-0 with his hand towards the coin attackers, showing off the score at the end of the 3rd round draw in FA Cup with a big smile. Nevertheless courtesy his injured knee, the forward player seems to be completely off the field and out of any action nearly for six long months and hence will not be able to attend the 2014 World Cup to be held in Brazil. Scotland Yard on Monday release hazy images of the attackers who are being suspected to have pelted Theo Walcott. The forces reported that during the game 3 individuals from a crowd of Tottenham supporters suddenly attacked the Arsenal forward player along with the stewards and medical staff with coins and different missiles while he was on stretcher.  Out of four medical staff two confessed that they were injured as well carrying the player off the field.

Fortunately the 3 men have been finally indentified by the Metropolitan Police officers and will be contacted soon by them. Anyone with any information on the same has been asked to call 07769241315 and get in touch with the Public Order Crime Investigation Squad.

RIVALRY

The rivalry between Arsenal and Tottenham was clearly shown and displayed not only by the fans that went to the Emirates Stadium in order to see their club face off in the FA Cup. Theo Walcott was removed from the match in a stretcher and as he was being taken off, he reminded everyone what the score was at that point by making hand gestures displaying a 2-0 score.

Tottenham Hotspurs fans responded by launching plastic bottles and coins at Walcott and ultimately it was the Englishman himself who did not enjoy the last laugh as his injury will be leaving him out of the playing grounds for the remainder of the season.

Not too long ago Jack Wilshere was sanctioned for displaying his middle finger to the Manchester City fans and the Football Association gave him a 1 match ban for his acts and now it is believed that the FA is taking a look at the gestures made by Walcott although it is unlikely that he will be charged.

“The doctor said coins were raining over his head while he was treating Theo on the pitch and he had to protect him,” said Arsene Wenger, “maybe that is why he did that.” The Arsenal manager added: “If the FA judge is it offensive what can I do but I don’t think he will be in trouble. What he did was not offensive. He does not look aggressive, he is smiling.”

Tottenham’s head coach Tim Sherwood said he had not seen the incident but he condemned any Tottenham fans who threw coins. “If they did that it is a problem.” As for Walcott’s gesture Sherwood said it was “maybe it was a bit of banter.”

Jack Wilshere made a statement about Walcott as he believes that his teammate Englishman will not be sanctioned.

Wilshere said: “I think they were giving him a bit of stick. He’s a bit smarter than me, I suppose! He’ll be an Arsenal legend now. That’s football.

“They were giving it to him and he’s given a little bit back. I think people have got to look at it as banter. The Arsenal fans will love that. They love Theo already and this is only going to help him.”

WALCOTT THE NEW GIGGS

Arsene Wenger reckons that the Manchester United midfielder Ryan Giggs still has a bit of football left in him and he can keep playing for a few more years.

Giggs who has recently become 40 years of age has already made more than 650 Premier League appearances for the Red Devils and he is still going strong.

During his 26 years tenure at Old Trafford, Giggs has won a number of titles and many experts consider him the greatest player who has ever played in the Premier League.

When asked about Giggs the other day, Wenger said, “Ryan is a great player not only because of his quality, but, because of his consistency as well. His record is amazing.”

“To keep playing for so many years and to keep putting up quality performances, it’s not easy. You need to be passionate to do that and Ryan has certainly got that quality. And, the most impressive thing about him is that his fitness has not deteriorated even a single bit. The agility that he shows on the ground at this age, it’s really special.”

When asked if he thinks that Giggs can continue playing in top flight for a few more years, Wenger said, “Yes, I think so. The way he is playing at the moment, it doesn’t seem that he would quit in near future.”

Giggs is one of those guys who have played almost all their football at one club. He had arrived at Old Trafford as a 14 years old boy way back in 1987 and he has remained there since then.

Giggs’ contract at Manchester United is going to expire at the end of this season, but, the kind of form he has shown so far, one should not be surprised if he gets a contract extension.
