Theo Walcott major threat from Hector Bellerin

Theo Walcott had been the undisputed fastest player within the Arsenal team for the last few years, but he has now received a major threat from right back Hector Bellerin. The youngster dominated the speed ratings in pre-season.

A number of injuries and suspensions are set to give him opportunities during the crucial Christmas period. This time will also see Arsenal recalling Walcott back from a long-term injury. Since the anterior cruciate ligament injury suffered against Tottenham last season, Walcott has not played much football. He might have lost some pace due to several injuries in the last few years.

Bellerin, though, does not want to get caught up in the debate surrounding the fastest player in the Arsenal team. He says that the presence of Walcott and himself on the right side of Arsenal’s team will certainly help the club exploit any weaknesses in the opposition in terms of pace. Both are extremely fast, butBellerin is not concerned whether he is faster than Walcott as some of the pre-season results show. Undoubtedly, the 19-year-old’s best performance came last week in the 4-1 win over Newcastle United. He created an assist and contributed in several attacking situations as well.

“Hopefully we get to start a game together and hopefully then we can show people that pace on the right-hand side and obviously just help the team.Theo is a really important player for the squad. He showed it last season before he got injured and he’s been showing it for a few years now. The whole squad is waiting for him to come and help the team with his pace and we’re really happy that he’s going to be back really soon. There’s a lot of banter about it but I’m just happy that we can play together,” saidBellerin.

Cahill Believes he has 3 more years

Tim Cahill believes there is still 3 years of football left in him, but, he doesn’t seem to be interested in signing for any of the A-League clubs in future.

The veteran player who mostly plays as an attacking playmaker has hinted that he might end his career by spending a season or two in Italy or may be in some Asian country.

Cahill might call time on his international career pretty soon and just focus on club football.

He was actually expected to announce his international retirement after the World Cup itself, but, he did not do that keeping the AFC Asian Cup in mind which is going to take place at the start of next year. That might well be his last international assignment.

At this point of time, Cahill is a part of the American club New York Red Bulls. He has been doing fine there. He has scored 12 goals in 50 odd games. His contract there finishes in one-year time.

In an interview recently, when Cahill was asked what his next destination would be after leaving the Red Bulls, he said, “It would be a tricky call I would say. I have been to several wonderful places and I have enjoyed my time everywhere.”

“It would be good going to somewhere new. Italy is probably a place that intrigues me and the Asian continent as well. So, let’ see.”

A couple of Australian clubs might be disappointed hearing this statement of Cahill as they are believed to have been trying hard to lure the playmaker to his motherland.

Cahill has never played for an Australian club so far in his senior career. He spent a long time playing in England before moving to America in 2012.

Walcott Expected To Miss Start Of Season

Theo Walcott might have to miss a couple of league matches for the Gunners at the start of the upcoming season.  The winger has almost recovered from his injury, but, he is yet to begin full training. He is supposed to do that in the last week of this month.

Talking about him the other day, Arsene Wenger, the manager of Arsenal said, “Theo deserves credit for the amount of effort he has put in on his fitness in the off season. I reckon we will have him back by the time this month finishes.”

“It’s all about starting the full training. Once it happens, it would not take him that much time to get to match fitness.”

Last week, on his account on a social networking site, Walcott had uploaded a couple of pictures which were suggesting that he might have begun to train. The player had his shoes on in those pictures.

But, Wenger has obviously clarified the situation now by saying that it would take the 25-year Old a bit more time to begin training.

Walcott would surely have played his first World Cup match in Brazil last month if he had been fit. But, unfortunately, that nasty injury hit him and he failed to fulfil his dream of representing his country at the topmost podium.

Walcott was selected in England’s squad for the 2006 World Cup, but, because of being only 16 years of age at that time, he didn’t get a game. For years later for the tournament in South Africa, he was overlooked by the England management, while, this time around, he got injured. So, he has every right to consider himself one of the unluckiest footballers in the world. But, the fortunes change very quickly in sports. In 2018, Walcott might be able to not only play for England, but, make a huge impact as well. Who knows?

UP FOR THE CUP

Arsenal’s season terminated on a positive note as they lifted the FA Cup by defeating Hull City and the Premier League club has a series of players which are rumors to be joining the team of Arsene Wenger while there are others that are on the verge of leaving the Emirates Stadium.

The substitute goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski informed the public that there is a possibility of him not wearing the Arsenal jersey in the next season as the Polish shot-stopper desires to join a club where he can get guaranteed playing time.

“That was probably my final game for Arsenal football club and I am really proud that my career here ends up with a trophy. After seven years here it is not easy for me to leave but my decision is made purely on playing regularly every week. That is main reason for me.

“The club has been fantastic with me and I really love Arsenal. It is a purely a sporting decision that I will go. In the next few weeks I will know more. There has been interest from some other clubs and we will find out soon what I do next. But I want to play every week and there are clubs that can give me the chance. One option is to stay in England, but there are also international opportunities. One thing is certain: I will not be unemployed.” Fabianski announced.

While Fabianski is seeking his way out of Arsenal, there is a player who is being heavily linked with the Premier League club as Wenger is believed to be interested in signing the Spanish midfielder from Barcelona but this seems to be like a difficult mission for the French manager to accomplish considering that Fabregas is a consistent performer for Barcelona.
